We looked at our list of available plants and noticed that there were still a few varieties of Thuja available. The most popular, old, and proven varieties have long disappeared from the list, but several, slightly newer ones are still there and you can still order them for your customers.
Let's start royally, with
Thuja occ. 'King of Brabant'®, which is an ideal plant for both nurserymen and end users. Why? Because it is naturally
dense and compact and requires much less pruning than regular 'Brabant'.
'King of Brabant', planted in the ground (in a nursery or a garden), will reach its target size within a few years with minimal work.
Other beautiful varieties, that are worth taking a look at and including in your offer, are sunny, luminous yellow varieties -
Thuja occ. 'Golden Smaragd'® and Thuja occ. 'Sunny Smaragd'®. Which one should you choose since both are beautiful and retain their color well? Read on and decide.
'Golden Smaragd' has a regular, conical shape typical of the 'Smaragd' variety and beautiful, golden scales (the colors are best in sunny or slightly shaded places). Importantly, the
golden color lasts all year round. After 10 years it reaches 2.5-3 m in height and is suitable for hedges or for growing in containers.
'Sunny Smaragd' (discovered in our nursery by Sebastiaan Hoogenraad) grows to a similar size but faster than 'Golden Smaragd'. It is also more diverse in colors - young growths are yellow with orange tips, and older ones are lush green. Compared to 'Golden Smaragd', 'Sunny Smaragd' is a
warmer shade of yellow. Like its predecessor, it is perfect for the garden and containers on the patio or terrace.
For those who are looking for something smaller, e.g. for a low hedge or as a medium-sized flowerbed, we recommend
Thuja occ. 'Stolwijk', which is no longer a novelty, and enjoys well-deserved popularity. It reaches a small size (after 10 years it grows to about 1 m in height and a similar diameter), as well as the interesting color of the shoots. They are light green in season, creamy yellow in spring, and pearl in autumn.

Pay attention to
Thuja pl. 'Can-Can', which is medium in size and develops a deep root system, which makes it better able to withstand
periodic droughts (so frequent in recent years). And to the
spherical Thuja occ. 'Waterfield', which looks beautiful in small gardens, rock gardens, and containers.
