GREEN IS LIFE & Thuja occidentalis in the spotlight

After a great Expo at Plantarium I Groen-Direct, this week, Hoogenraad Nurseries will be exhibiting at GREEN IS LIFE in Warsaw, Poland, taking place from 3–5 September. You can find us at Hall 1, Stand 96.

We look forward to welcoming customers, partners and fellow professionals to our stand, presenting our assortment and discussing the upcoming season. Will you be visiting GREEN IS LIFE? Come and say hello!

During the show, we’re putting the spotlight on one of our most versatile conifer groups: Thuja occidentalis. 🌿

With an impressive 122 product lines, Thuja occidentalis is an important part of our assortment. Thanks to its excellent winter hardiness and strong garden performance, it is a reliable choice for a wide range of applications.

From compact balls and shaped plants, to solitary specimens and evergreen hedges, Thuja occidentalis offers year-round structure, colour and privacy. Its versatility makes it suitable for everything from smaller gardens and containers to larger landscaping projects.

Discover our extensive Thuja occidentalis assortment and find the right variety and shape for your project. 🌱

Six Thuja occidentalis favourites
Our Thuja occidentalis assortment offers much more than the classic green varieties. Alongside ‘Brabant’, ‘King of Brabant’ and ‘Smaragd’, we also offer several attractive yellow and golden selections.

Thuja occidentalis ‘Brabant’ is a fast-growing and reliable classic, making it an excellent choice for a quickly established evergreen hedge. Its fresh green foliage and strong growth make it particularly suitable for larger gardens and landscaping projects.

‘King of Brabant’ combines vigorous growth with a dense and fuller appearance. Compared with ‘Brabant’, it has a slightly more compact habit, making it a good choice when a strong, dense hedge is required.

‘Smaragd’ is the more compact and naturally conical variety of the three. Its dense, bright green foliage retains its colour throughout the year. It grows more slowly than ‘Brabant’ and ‘King of Brabant’, but needs less pruning and is particularly suitable for formal hedges, specimen planting and smaller gardens.

For those looking to add colour, our golden varieties offer a great alternative.
✨ Thuja occidentalis ‘Golden Brabant’ combines the vigorous growth of ‘Brabant’ with attractive golden-yellow foliage. It is therefore particularly interesting for customers looking for a fast-growing hedge with a warmer, brighter appearance.

✨ Thuja occidentalis ‘Golden Smaragd’ has the compact, elegant shape of ‘Smaragd’, but with golden-yellow foliage. Compared with Golden Brabant, it is slower-growing and more compact, making it especially suitable for formal hedges, specimen planting and smaller gardens.

✨ Thuja occidentalis ‘Sunny Smaragd’ is another compact golden selection, with bright, fresh yellow-green foliage and a neat, upright habit. Like ‘Smaragd’, it offers a refined appearance and is well suited to smaller-scale applications where year-round colour is important.

In short:
🌱 Brabant – fast-growing & ideal for quick green hedges
🌱 King of Brabant – vigorous, dense & slightly more compact
🌱 Smaragd – elegant, compact & naturally conical
✨ Golden Brabant – fast-growing with golden foliage
✨ Golden Smaragd – compact, elegant & golden
✨ Sunny Smaragd – bright yellow-green, neat & refined
Together, these varieties show just how versatile Thuja occidentalis can be, from fast-growing hedges to compact forms, and from classic green foliage to striking golden tones.

FAQ:

How should I make my order?

Complete the "order" column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details, and the expected date of receipt of the order - this will help us plan work in the nursery.

When will my order be confirmed?

Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours (working days). If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.

When can I pick up my order?

We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April - 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from Week 47 till week 19.

I'm a new customer, when do I have to pay?

We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
