Beautiful and attractive moor by Hoogenraad
When we look at plants that are still available in our offer, we can imagine a beautiful, colorful and attractive heath all year round.
Pay attention to the wide collection of conifers, which can be the dominant element in the composition or be the background for flowering plants: Chamaecyparis, Juniperus in a creeping form, such as Juniperus hor. 'Icee Blue', 'Blue Chip', 'Wiltonii' or columnar like Juniperus comm. 'Hibernica' and 'Suecica' (in P9) or Juniperus scop. 'Blue Arrow' in C2. Picea in varieties: glauca 'Conica December'PBR or pungens 'Super Blue Seedling' and Thuja in a spherical and columnar form.
They will perfectly match the blooming in May / June, Andromeda polifolia 'Blue Ice' (20 cm high, 40 cm wide), or 'Compacta' (grows up to 30 cm high), whose advantages are bluish-green, slightly silvery leaves and pink, small flowers. Before Andromeda, Erica will attract attention.
It is worth remembering the incredibly decorative Cytisus with yellow-red or pink flowers. On the moor, it is worth finding a place for Magnolia, for example, Magnolia kobus with large, wide-open white flowers, or Magnolia soulangeana 'Satisfaction' with flowers pink on the outside and cream on the inside. The advantage of this variety is a slightly later flowering date, thanks to which there is less risk of damaging the flowers by early spring frosts. Because it grows only to 2-3 m it's a perfect Magnolia for smaller gardens.
An indispensable element of the moor are Pieris japonica, Leucothoe, Vaccinium, and of course Rhododendron (Azalea japonica), which we still have in C2 containers.
