and today we are showcasing two specific kinds.
First, we have the classic
Pinus mugo pumilio and Pinus mugo mugo, both available in
P14 containers. The photo below shows these plants are well-formed and ready for sale.
As a reminder, Pinus mugo pumilio has a flat-spherical shape, reaching a height of 0.5 meters and a width of 1 meter after 10 years. Over several decades, it can grow up to 3 meters in diameter. The needles are short, measuring 2-4 cm. This plant is drought-resistant, tolerant of industrial pollution, completely frost-resistant, and low-maintenance regarding soil requirements. It thrives in sunny locations and looks particularly attractive in rock gardens, heathlands, and when paired with perennials. It is also suitable for urban landscaping, reclaiming post-industrial areas, and stabilizing slopes.
Pinus mugo mugo differs in that it has a bushy growth habit with forms ranging from spherical to irregular. It can reach a height of 0.5 meters or more, and its needles may be up to 8 cm long. This species is fully frost-resistant, loves sunlight, and is not demanding in terms of soil.
Another evergreen option is the striking
Ophiopogon plan. 'Niger'. Although it resembles grass, it is actually a rhizomatous perennial. It features numerous narrow, dark purple, nearly black leaves, forming clumps that grow up to 40 cm high. From July to September, it produces small, fragrant, purple-white bell-shaped flowers and eventually, small dark berries. This plant is adaptable to various conditions but thrives best in sunny or semi-shaded areas; in heavy shade, the intensity of its leaf color diminishes. It prefers moist, permeable, humus-rich soils. We recommend it as a ground cover plant, for flower beds, in contrasting combinations with plants that have silver or yellow foliage, for borders, and in containers on terraces and patios.
These are not the only evergreen plants available in our offerings; you can find more listed in the
attached file.
