Plant novelties for the 2024-2025 season
We start colorfully with beautiful varieties of Acer palmatum, Cornus alba, and Miscanthus sinensis.
Acer palmatum Royal Garnet ('Opstal11'PBR) EU 57550 is a new variety in our offer with deeply incised leaves, and pinnate garnet-colored leaves. In autumn, they turn on fiery, red-orange colors, sometimes with a blue shade. Royal Garnet creates a nice, spreading bush with hanging shoots. It's very picturesque and fits into many landscape designs. It denses well, and initially grows quite narrowly, over time it forms a wider crown. After seven years, it reaches 200 cm in height, it prefers moist but well-drained soil, and sunny or semi-shaded places. Royal Garnet is frost-resistant down to -15 ºC.
Our next colorful proposition is Cornus alba Nightfall ('Verpaalen3'PBR) EU 20231194, which initially has intensely green leaves, but over time, changes color to dark purple. In winter, the bright red shoots are the decorative element. Nightfall works great as an informal or cut hedge, a strong color accent, or a background for flowering perennials and shrubs.
It has little soil requirements and grows well both in the sun and in partial shade. It grows to about 1.5 m in height and is frost-resistant down to -30 °C.
And our last proposition today, Miscanthus sinensis 'Lady in Red'. At the beginning of the season, it delights with bottle green leaves, and in summer it changes color to burgundy, perfectly highlighted by a white stripe in the middle of the leaf blade. At the end of summer, Lady in Red changes color again and takes on warmer, red-orange colors. It grows to about 1.5 m in height and is frost-resistant and undemanding. Suitable for planting in groups and individually, as a strong color element. It has a spreading, airy shape and numerous fluffy inflorescences typical of Miscanthus.
In the following weeks, we will present more new plants for the 2024-2025 season and the full list for the new season will appear in July.
