Pyracantha - choose what you like
This year autumn spoils us with warmth, sun, and fabulous colors. Even a short walk in a neighborhood provides an unforgettable aesthetic experience. The most prominent ones are bushes of Pyracantha, sprinkled with small, yellow, orange, or red berries, eagerly eaten by birds.
From our human point of view, Pyracantha is a universal plant that has low requirements and can have a decorative and defensive function. Firethorn looks great on the wall of the house - in spring is sprinkled with small white flowers, from autumn delights with the intense color of the fruit against the background of dark green leaves (which usually last throughout the winter).
When planted next to a fence, or formed into a hedge, they effectively protect us from unwanted guests (this aspect is also appreciated by birds who eagerly make their nests in the thorny thicket).
Pyracantha blooms and bears fruit on 2-year-old shoots, so we recommend pruning after flowering. Most varieties are resistant to high temperatures, urban climate, and air pollution.
If you haven't bought Pyracantha for next season yet, then we have good news - we still have several varieties available. With red, orange, and yellow berries. Growing vigorously and more moderately, ideal for taller and lower hedges, as a primitive climbing plant on a wall, or as a taller groundcover.
Here they are. Choose whatever you like:
- 'Red Column' - grows up to 2 m in height, red fruit
- 'Red Cushion' - short to about 80 cm tall, orange-red fruit
- 'Red Star'PBR - less thorny than most varieties, red fruit, long-lasting color, grows up to 2 heights
- 'Sunny Star'PBR - sunny yellow and orange fruit (pictured in the header), less thorny than other varieties, grows strongly up to about 3 m.
- 'Orange Star'PBR - like the other varieties from the "Star" series, it has fewer thorns, grows up to about 2 m in height, and has intense orange fruit.
- 'Firelight' - as the name suggests, the fruit is fiery red, and the variety grows to about 1.5 m in height and width.
- 'Golden Charmer' - a strongly growing variety, reaching 2.5-3 m, numerous fruits, orange-yellow.
- 'Orange Glow' - a strongly growing variety, 2.5 m high and over one meter in diameter, bright orange fruit.
- 'Soleil d'Or' - reaches 1.5 m in height, and the fruit is bright yellow.

How should I make my order?
Complete the "order" column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details, and the expected date of receipt of the order - this will help us plan work in the nursery.
When will my order be confirmed?
Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours (working days). If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.
When can I pick up my order?
We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April - 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from 12 September 2022 till 12 May 2023.
I'm a new customer, when do I have to pay?
We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
