A real sensation in the plant world!
Recently, we wrote about a sensational plant in our social media. With wide, solid, silvery leaves and sensationally large inflorescences.
Lavandula intermedia Sensational!
Because it is what we are talking about that is a sensation in the lavender world.
It blooms from spring to autumn (reblooms), with large, 11 cm long inflorescences that have a nice, strong purple color. As befits lavender flowers, they attract different types of pollinators - bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. And they smell nice.
Strong inflorescence shoots mean that the flowers can be used in floristry as an element of fresh or dry flower compositions (also as scented sachets for the wardrobe).
The shrub is compact with an upright habit, high and wide, up to about 60 cm.
Sensational! it is resistant to leaf spotting and root diseases.
Regardless of whether it grows in a flower bed, in a rock garden, in a container, or in mass urban plantings, it is undemanding. It is enough to plant it in a sunny place, in well-drained soil, in places where the temperature in winter does not drop below -25ºC.
