Liquidambar styraciflua
Called American red gum, sweet gum or satin walnut is one of the most spectacular autumn trees. In the spring the palmately lobed leaves are fresh green and become dark green as they mature. But in the autumn the show begins! The leaves become yellow, orange, red, wine-red with yellow, purple and... all combinations are possible. That is the moment of the year when Liquidambar transforms from a humble background to the celebrity and steals the show.
If you are a more inquisitive observer, sensitive to the details, you can easily notice that the grey trunk has deep grooves that make this tree even more interesting. The trunk of the sweet gum is almost straight up to the top of the crown so the tree is very useful as an avenue tree. Additionally, the roots are non-invasive so they don't damage the surface around. In the beginning, the crown grows in a narrow, pyramidal manner and when the tree gets older the crown becomes ovoid. Liquidambar grows to 25-30 m.
As a fire-resistant tree, sweet gum can be used for defensible space.

How should I make my order?
Complete the "order" column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details and the expected date of receipt of the order (autumn or spring) - this will help us plan work in the nursery.
When will my order be confirmed?
Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours. If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.
When can I pick up my order?
We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection in advance – from February to the end of April, 3 weeks earlier, except this period – a minimum of one week. This will facilitate the timely, efficient and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
I'm a new customer, when do I have to pay?
We accept cash payments or bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
