The fragrant king of spring and summer nights

Philadelphus... a symbol of enchantment, and sensual raptures, known as the Moon Flower and the Queen of the Night, a gift from God. Warm, spring (summer) nights filled with the heavy, sensual scent of jasmine, carry promise, and are and have been the subject of love poems.

On a more practical note, Philadelphus is an undemanding shrub that grows perfectly on average garden soil, preferably in slightly shaded places. It tolerates cutting well and is resistant to low temperatures. The flowers appear in May/June/July, and are single or double, with various shades of white. It is worth planting them in home gardens, preferably near passages, entrances, and terraces, to fully enjoy their amazing scent. They are resistant to water shortages and work well in urban greenery and large park plantings.

Our offer still includes several varieties (all available in P9 containers, nicely branched - see the pictures below):
  • Philadelphus coronarius growing up to 2-3 m high with single, creamy-white flowers 3 cm in diameter and
  • Philadelphus coronarius 'Aureus', its yellow-leafed brother with numerous, creamy-white single flowers (2 cm in diameter), which reaches about 1.5-2 m in height.
  • Philadelphus maculatus 'Mexican Jewel' - a strongly growing shrub, up to 3 m high, with white flowers with a purple center, which contrast beautifully with the dark green leaves.
  • Philadelphus 'Belle Etoile', a green-leafed variety bred by the French gardener Victor Lemoine in the 1930s, with single, wide bell-shaped flowers, white with a purple spot inside, 4-5 cm in diameter. It grows to 1-2 m in height.
  • Philadelphus 'Lemoinei' (yes, this variety was also bred by Victor Lemoine), with a loose shape and widely hanging shoots, grows quickly, up to about 1.5 m in height. It blooms profusely, the white flowers are about 2.5 cm in diameter.
  • Philadelphus 'Schneesturm' quite vigorously growing up to 2-2.5 m high and with pure white, double flowers with a diameter of 4-5 cm.
  • Philadelphus 'Silberregen' is a dwarf variety growing to about 1 m in height, with single, white flowers.
  • Philadelphus 'Snowbelle' - small, only 1-1.5 m high, with full, large flowers with a diameter of 6 cm. Attention! At the time of writing this newsletter, there are only 60 pieces of this beautiful variety left!
  • Philadelphus 'Starbright' ™ with large, white flowers, which after 10 years reaches 2.5 m in height.

How should I make my order?

Complete the "order" column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details, and the expected date of receipt of the order - this will help us plan work in the nursery.

When will my order be confirmed?

Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours (working days). If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.

When can I pick up my order?

We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April - 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from 11-9-2023 till 24-5-2024.

I'm a new customer, when do I have to pay?

We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value.
