How to build a space for people and useful creatures?

Recently, we write a lot about birds, butterflies, and other useful animals that your clients can (and should) invite to their gardens and urban greenery areas. We believe that being nurserymen means much more than only growing plants and telling about plants. Being nurserymen means that we understand the impact of our work on people's well-being and a healthy environment.

That's the reason we want you to encourage your customer to invite birds to their gardens. One of the proven ways to attract birds is to create safe breeding places, e.g. by planting hedges. Not only coniferous but also deciduous - elegant, evenly cut, or natural. Both provide shelter for the nest and chicks against the watchful eyes of predators. Additionally, in winter they provide food in the form of fruit and berries.
Did you know that studies show that birds are "environmental indicators" that prove the cleanliness and quality of the environment? We can safely assume that the more different species of birds in an area, the higher the level of biodiversity and better living conditions (also for us). In the past, the canaries "worked" in coal mines and warned miners against increased carbon monoxide levels, giving people time to put on masks or escape.

Why is it worth having birds in the neighborhood?

Because they are our natural allies in regulating the number of insects and combating pests (one family of tits eats about 70 kg of insects in the season - about 3 million pieces).
Additional advantages are the possibility of developing nature curiosity in children and adults and ... easier wake-ups on summer mornings.

Help your clients build spaces where there will be a place for people and birds (and other useful creatures). Let us know which hedge plants you want to offer them:
  • Carpinus betulus, and Fagus sylvatica are easy to form, so they add a good final touch to the elegant, more geometric places
  • Cotoneaster lucidus and Cornus alba (in varieties), can be used as formed or natural hedges, offer beautiful colors of leaves in summer and autumn (hardly any plant discolors so beautifully as a Cotoneaster), and thanks to the fruit, lure birds in winter
  • Ligustrum, a hedge classic that decorates the surroundings with white, fragrant flowers in summer, and is a source of food for birds in winter
  • evergreen and more compact than the species - Eleagnus ebb. 'Compacta'
  • for loose, natural hedges that "bring" spring to the environment, we propose Forsythia, and Spiraea cinerea 'Grefsheim'
  • and if your clients need a color that brightens the space or is a strong strong accent, then of course we recommend Physocarpus.

We can list many more plants but we think that the best is if you check the attached file, get inspired, and create an offer for your clients, which will delight them and ... allow them to enjoy the presence of winged friends.

Do you need advice? Write or call, we will gladly help you.
The minimum order depends on the size of the plants:
  • P9 -> 80 pcs / variety
  • P12 -> 75 pcs / variety
  • P14, C2 -> 50 pcs / variety
  • C3 and bigger -> 25 pcs / variety

FAQ:

How should I make my order?

Complete the "order" column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details, and the expected date of receipt of the order - this will help us plan work in the nursery.

When will my order be confirmed?

Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours (working days). If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.

When can I pick up my order?

We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April - 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from 12 September 2022 till 12 May 2023.

I'm a new customer, when do I have to pay?

We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
