Autumn has arrived at Hoogenraad 🍂

The summer warmth is behind us, the nights are getting colder and the nursery is clearly moving into a new season. And for us, that also means one thing: more and more plants can be packed into our export boxes again. At Hoogenraad, we are in full swing picking, packing and delivering orders. Our team is working hard to make sure every plant reaches its destination ready for the next step. With autumn now well underway, we are looking forward to a busy period of deliveries.

How low can you go?

This week, we are looking at some of the flattest Juniperus varieties in our assortment. True creeping junipers. Plants that spread wide, stay close to the ground and form a dense, evergreen carpet. From steel blue and silvery grey to fresh green and yellow-green, there is plenty of variation in colour as well as growth habit. And if you are looking for truly flat growth, Juniperus horizontalis ‘Pancake’ is hard to beat.

Green carpets

For a classic green look, Juniperus communis ‘Green Carpet’ is a very low-growing and spreading groundcover.

Juniperus communis ‘Repanda’ also stays low, but creates a denser, broader spreading habit.

Another strong green option is Juniperus horizontalis ‘Jade River’, with its fresh green foliage and low, spreading growth.

Blue and silvery tones

For cooler colours, there are several interesting choices.

Juniperus horizontalis ‘Hughes’ grows very low and wide, with attractive silvery-blue foliage.

Juniperus horizontalis ‘Wiltonii’ goes even further, with an extremely low and broad habit and distinctive blue-grey foliage.

Juniperus squamata ‘Blue Carpet’ adds another silvery-blue option, with a low and spreading form.

And Juniperus conferta ‘Schlager’ combines a low habit with blue-green foliage.

A little more colour

Not every creeping Juniperus has to stay green or blue.

Juniperus conferta ‘Sunflower’ PBR offers yellow-green foliage.

Juniperus horizontalis ‘Limeglow’ brings yellow-green to golden-yellow tones, adding a brighter accent to the planting.

And Juniperus horizontalis ‘Prince of Wales’ has green foliage that can turn bronze in winter, giving it an extra seasonal effect.

Flat, hardy and easy to use

Low-growing Juniperus is particularly useful where winter hardiness, snow resistance and low maintenance are important.

From compact groundcovers to extremely flat, carpet-forming varieties, there is plenty of choice for gardens and landscape projects.

This week, our flattest Juniperus are taking centre stage – and ‘Pancake’ may just be the flattest of them all.

The minimum order depends on the size of the plants:

FAQ:

How should I make my order?

Complete the “order” column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details, and the expected date of receipt of the order – this will help us plan work in the nursery.

When will my order be confirmed?

Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours (working days). If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.

When can I pick up my order?

We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April – 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from Week 47 till week 19.

I’m a new customer, when do I have to pay?

We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
