Evergreen, reliable and surprisingly versatile
Alongside the trade fair, we are putting Taxus in the spotlight this week. At first glance, Taxus may seem like a classic evergreen hedge plant. But look a little closer and there is much more variation. From low and spreading forms to compact shrubs, dense hedges and narrow upright plants, Taxus can be used in many different ways.
With 26 Taxus product lines in our current availability list, there is plenty to choose from.
Taxus baccata â from low and spreading to narrow and upright
The classic Taxus baccata remains one of the most versatile choices.
Its dense evergreen foliage and excellent tolerance of pruning make it suitable for hedges, topiary and specimen planting.
But not every Taxus baccata grows the same way.
âFastigiata Robustaâ and âGreen RocketâÂź bring a strong vertical accent with their narrow, upright growth.
âDavidâ combines this upright habit with striking golden-yellow young shoots, while âOrange AlfâÂź stands out through its distinctive orange-yellow young growth. For a compact and densely branched shape, there is âXanaduâÂź.
And at the other end of the spectrum, âRepandensâ grows low and spreading â a completely different character within the same species.
Taxus cuspidata â naturally compact
Sometimes a smaller, denser plant is exactly what is needed. That is where Taxus cuspidata comes in.Â
- âFarmenâ is a robust, densely growing selection with a strong garden character.Â
- âNanaâ stays lower and more compact, making it particularly useful for smaller spaces and low planting schemes.
Taxus media â plenty of possibilities
The Taxus media group offers perhaps the widest range of growth habits. âDensiformisâ grows broad, dense and spreading, making it suitable for lower hedges and mass planting. For stronger upright structure, there are varieties such as âGreen Mountainâ, âGroenlandâ, âHicksiiâ and âHilliiâ. âHicksiiâ in particular is well known for its narrow, upright habit and is widely used for formal hedges.
More compact selections include âKazioâ PBR and âTymonâ PBR, both offering a neat and dense growth habit.
And for something different in colour, âYellow LandâÂź combines an upright shape with distinctive bright yellow young foliage.
From groundcover to vertical structure
That is what makes Taxus so useful. One genus can provide low spreading plants, compact shrubs, dense hedges and strong vertical accents â all while keeping its evergreen character throughout the year. Discover our current Taxus assortment and find the growth habit that fits your next project.
And if you are visiting GrootGroenPlus this week, come and see us at Stand G120. We look forward to welcoming you!

Â
When can I pick up my order?
We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2Â weeks in advance (February-April – 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from Week 47 till week 19.
Â
I’m a new customer, when do I have to pay?
We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value.
