Autumn colour that is hard to miss 🔥

Some plants wait until autumn to really show what they can do. Pyracantha, commonly known as firethorn, is one of them. With its glossy evergreen foliage, white flowers in spring and colourful berries later in the season, Pyracantha brings interest to the garden almost all year round. And in autumn, the real show begins. Depending on the variety, the berries can be bright red, fiery orange or golden yellow.

More than just colour
Pyracantha is not only decorative. Its dense growth and thorny branches make it a strong choice for hedges, walls and landscape planting. At the same time, the berries and dense structure provide food and shelter for birds. So whether you are looking for colour, structure or a practical evergreen shrub, Pyracantha has plenty to offer.

Red, orange or yellow?

This week, we are highlighting 11 different Pyracantha varieties in our assortment. For strong red tones, there is Pyracantha coccinea ‘Red Cushion’, a compact variety with a dense habit and abundant bright red berries. Pyracantha coccinea ‘Red Star’ PBR adds vivid red colour and has a strong ornamental appearance.

Prefer something warmer? Pyracantha coccinea ‘Orange Star’ PBR produces masses of vibrant orange berries, while Pyracantha ‘Orange Glow’ creates a glowing display from late summer into autumn.

Other orange-toned selections include Pyracantha ‘Mohave’ and Pyracantha ‘Orange Charmer’.

A golden touch

For a brighter look, there are several yellow and golden selections. Pyracantha coccinea ‘Sunny Star’ PBR combines evergreen foliage with bright yellow berries. Pyracantha ‘Golden Paradise’ PBR, ‘Golden Charmer’ and ‘Soleil d’Or’ all bring warm golden tones to the autumn garden. And then there is Pyracantha ‘Firelight’, with warm, fiery-coloured berries that fit its name perfectly

When can I pick up my order?

We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April – 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
