Tree Peonies: A Colorful Flower Festival
Paeonia suffruticosa, or tree peonies, are remarkable plants known for their large, showy flowers, which can reach diameters of 20 to 30 cm. These flowers can be single, semi-double, or full and come in a stunning array of colors. With their strong shoots and long, compound leaves, tree peonies are an excellent choice for adding beauty to your garden.
Originating from Asia, Paeonia suffruticosa thrives in Europe and is celebrated for its longevity and decorative appeal. These plants do not respond well to replanting; therefore, selecting the ideal location for them is crucial. The longer a tree peony stays in one spot, the more abundantly it will bloom.
From May to June, these splendid plants transform your garden into a vibrant flower festival, showcasing colors such as black, white, shades of pink, red, and yellow—there’s something for everyone!
Here are a few essential care tips for customers purchasing Paeonia suffruticosa:
- Tree peonies do not like being moved, so take your time to choose the best planting location. This investment will pay off in the long run.
- They prefer sunny or lightly shaded areas that are sheltered from the wind.
- Ensure the soil is fertile and well-drained, as peonies do not thrive in overly wet conditions.
- In regions where temperatures fall below -20°C, it is necessary to provide some winter protection. Over time, as the plants mature, their frost resistance increases.
- Tree peonies typically begin to bloom a few years after planting.
In our nursery, we offer Paeonia suffruticosa in C2 containers, planted with bare roots. As they are not fully rooted, we take special care in packaging them for transport to ensure they arrive in excellent condition.

- P12 -> 75 pcs / variety
- P14, C2 -> 50 pcs / variety
- C3 and bigger -> 25 pcs / variety
FAQ:
How should I make my order?
Complete the “order” column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details, and the expected date of receipt of the order – this will help us plan work in the nursery.
When will my order be confirmed?
Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours (working days). If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.
When can I pick up my order?
We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April – 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from 09-09-2024 till 03-05-2025.
I’m a new customer, when do I have to pay?
We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
