We celebrate Ascension Day
Thuja has many names
And many uses
In the case of varieties that are still available from us, we cannot talk about boredom, monotonous green, or cliché.
What we have available in P9 are unique plants. Details – below the photo.
Thuja occ. ‘Bright Smaragd’ PBR is a golden-lime version of the popular Smaragd. Expressive green, interspersed with the sun, adds charm and glow to gardens, planted individually, as a contrast to darker plants, or as a hedge. Perfect for containers, patio, and terrace decoration. Bright Smaragd is a burst of sunshine all year round.
Thuja occ. ‘Golden Brabant’®, i.e. the yellow version of the Brabant variety. It grows quickly, is frost-resistant, perfect for hedges and as a solitary plant. It perfectly tolerates cutting, after which it dens well. It does not burn even in direct sunlight.
Thuja occ. ‘King of Brabant’® is an absolute hit in the group of columnar varieties, ideal for hedges. King of Brabant grows very fast (even faster than regular Brabant) and compacts without pruning! It keeps a compact, narrow shape. If your customers don’t have the time or the inclination to cut a hedge, King of Brabant is the best choice.
Thuja occ. ‘Mirjam’® is a spherical variety that grows to about 60 cm in height, which makes it suitable as a low border, ground cover, or container decoration. The needles are bright yellow in summer and orange and brown-green in winter. Miriam is frost-resistant and goes beautifully with plants with contrasting leaves and needles.
We still have 100 Thuja occ. ‘Totem Smaragd’PBR, which received a gold medal at the Gardenia fair (PL) and a silver medal at the GrootGroen Plus (NL) for its elegant and compact shape. Totem Smaragd is only 40 cm wide and 2 m high, so it is suitable even for small spaces.
About Totem Smaragd we asked British blogger Michael Perry (Mr. Plant Geek): The neat, slim Totem Smaragd is not only handsome but also very useful in the garden. It takes up little space but adds character and “height” to the garden. It is similar to the Italian cypress and, like the cypress, the Totem Smaragd is also not to be overlooked!
And Kim van Rijssen, the Plantipp company that introduced this variety to the market: Many varieties of Thuja occidentalis are very thin on the top. I find it ugly. When you have Thuja in your garden, the most noticeable part of the plant is its top, right? Totem Smaragd is dense all the way from top to bottom which makes it look very neat. It’s full. It just looks healthier and more “muscular” than the other varieties.
Choose the varieties that your customers like best. We still have Thuja plicata available as well (about 100 per variety). Besides Thuja, beautiful evergreen hedges can be created with Taxus – check the full offer and send your order.
We kindly remind you that the loading calendar fills up very quickly. That’s why we’re suggesting you book your loading date asap.

Do you have a problem with arranging transport?
Please let us know as soon as possible. We work with several proven carriers, so you can count on our help.
The minimum order depends on the size of the plants:
- P9 -> 80 pcs / variety
- P12 -> 75 pcs / variety
- C1.5, C2 – 50 pcs / variety
- C3 and bigger -> 25 pcs / variety
FAQ:
How should I make my order?
Complete the “order” column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details and the expected date of receipt of the order – this will help us plan work in the nursery.
When will my order be confirmed?
Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours. If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.
When can I pick up my order?
We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April – 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from September 2021 to mid-May 2022.
I’m a new customer, when do I have to pay?
We accept cash payments or bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
