Which Weigela will make you feel better?
Have you ever wondered why many of the shrubs that bloom in early spring have yellow (Hamamelis, Cornus mas, Forsythia) or pink (Magnolia, Ribes sanguineum) flowers? There is no coincidence! Yellow and pink help us fight the bad mood and dissipate negative thoughts after the gray winter months.
In the coming weeks, we will probably have to face new challenges. Let’s get ready to face them more easily. Check which varieties of Weigela will restore energy, the joy of life and calm down disturbing thoughts.
- PINK means optimism and joy.
It relieves stress and tension, fills with optimism and sympathy, reduces the feeling of loneliness and irritation. Choose Alexandra, Pink Poppet, Suzanne, Victoria, Bouquet Rose, Minuet, Rosea, Rumba.
- YELLOW means joy, warmth, and self-confidence
If you need a boost of positive energy, choose Weigela with yellow flowers or leaves. They will provide joy, inspire to action, add confidence and help you remember good moments better. Choose Weigela middendorffiana (yellow flowers), Rubidor (lemon-yellow leaves), Brigela (green leaves with the yellow edge).
- RED means vitality and activity
It stimulates us to action, enlivens us, adds optimism and strength to achieve goals. It helps to overcome bad mood and fatigue. Choose All Summer Red, Eva Rathke, Marjorie (it has yellow-orange and red flowers at the same time), Newport Red.
- ORANGE (the color of the Netherlands) means warmth, inspiration, and security
It is not without reason that the Netherlands is in 6th place in this year’s ranking of the best-to-live countries (developed by the BAV Group, part of the global marketing corporation VMLY & R and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania). The Netherlands is orange, and orange restores joy, encourages, raises self-esteem, improves mood and soothes depression. Choose Marjorie or Wings of Fire – its leaves turn into warm red-orange.
- BLACK AND WHITE means security and tranquility
Although contrasting, white and black complement each other perfectly. White reflects negative emotions and improves mood, while Black calms down. You find the perfect combination in Weigela ‘Black and White’ and ‘Ebony and Ivory’, which have black leaves and white flowers. You can also choose Candida or Snowflake (green leaves and white flowers).
- GREEN means tranquility, harmony, and balance
It helps us relax, relieves tension, refreshes after intensive work. The bright green brings to mind something new that comes back to life.
Weigela is always a good choice, regardless of the color. Each of them brings to our environment an element of joy, life, and positive energy. And it’s bee-friendly.

How should I make my order?
Complete the “order” column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details and the expected date of receipt of the order (autumn or spring) – this will help us plan work in the nursery.
When will my order be confirmed?
Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours. If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.
When can I pick up my order?
We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 3 weeks in advance. This will facilitate the timely, efficient and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
I’m a new customer, when do I have to pay?
We accept cash payments or bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
