There are known nearly 300 varieties…
Their small, intense orange fruits are a treasury of vitamin C, antioxidants that delay the aging process and protect us against civilization diseases, and unsaturated fatty acids. In addition, they are able to survive in harsh conditions, in poor, light soils, and in cities, close to streets.
Sea buckthorn – Hippophae rhamnoides.
From the aforementioned 300 varieties, we chose a few – proven, and resistant, which we know are easy to produce for you and low-maintenance for your customers. Here they are:
- ‘Hergo’ – female variety
- ‘Hikul’ – male variety
- ‘Julia’ – female variety
- ‘Leikora’ – female variety
- ‘Pollmix’ – male variety
- ‘Romeo’ – male variety
Sea buckthorn, apart from the fact that their fruits are valuable in industrial and individual cultivation, suitable for juices, preserves, and as an addition to cosmetics, is also extremely beautiful. Hippophae rhamnoides have narrow, silvery green leaves and orange fruits* that stick to the shoots tightly and remain on the branches throughout the winter.
Male flowers and fruit buds on a female plant:
*Pollination and fruiting
Hippophae rhamnoides have both female and male individuals.
Fruits appear only on female plants as a result of pollination (they are wind-pollinated). Therefore, if you want to get fruit, remember to have a male specimen next to the female plants. One male plant pollinates 5-9 female plants.
Self-pollinating varieties such as ‘Friesdorfer Orange’, currently not available in our offer, can be planted individually.
The minimum order depends on the size of the plants:
- P9 -> 80 pcs / variety
- P12 -> 75 pcs / variety
- P14, C2 -> 50 pcs / variety
- C3 and bigger -> 25 pcs / variety

FAQ:
How should I make my order?
Complete the “order” column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details, and the expected date of receipt of the order – this will help us plan work in the nursery.
When will my order be confirmed?
Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours (working days). If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.
When can I pick up my order?
We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April – 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from 12 September 2022 till 12 May 2023.
I’m a new customer, when do I have to pay?
We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value. After making the payment, please send us confirmation of the transfer because it accelerates the preparation of the plants for pickup.
