The extremely positive tree
We can’t help it but the autumn weather inspires topics of our recent newsletters. This time, our attention was drawn to birches, whose yellowed leaves look beautiful against the blue autumn sky.
Fortunately, we have birches in our nursery, ready for sale, transplanting into larger containers, and planting in the ground.
At the moment, we have several varieties in several sizes.
- A miniature Betula nana in P9, which is a beautiful, spreading shrub that grows to about 1-1.5 m high and has small, round leaves.
- Betula p. ‘Dalecarlica’ (in P14) with the shape and target dimensions characteristic of the species, but with strongly incised, feathery leaves that, hanging on long petioles, give the tree a delicate, openwork appearance. The bark on the trunk and older branches is chalky white.
- Betula p. ‘Golden Obelisk’ grows to about 10 m in height and 4 m in diameter, with golden yellow leaves. On young shoots the bark is brown, but on older shoots, it takes on a beautiful, silver-white color, has a smooth surface, and peels off picturesquely. Available in P14.
- Betula p. ‘Spider Alley’pbr is an interesting variety with fancifully twisted shoots and leaves, which grows to 4-5 m in height (after about 10 years). Very attractive, also in winter, in a leafless state. Shoots are suitable for use in flower arrangements.
- Betula utilis jacquemontii with chalky white bark, nice shape, and shoots growing from the trunk at a sharp angle, is one of our favorites, especially when growing in a larger group. It is available from us in P14 containers.
Birches are very tolerant trees, they work great on light soils and are resistant to low temperatures.
For those interested in the symbolic meaning of plants, we have good news.
Birch is an extremely positive tree. In ancient Rome, wedding torches were made from birch branches, the flame of which was supposed to bring happiness and prosperity to the young couple. In many countries, birch brooms placed by the door were supposed to protect against evil spirits. Birch is considered a tree of life and death, beginning and end, a symbol of youth and life.
It is said that spending time among birches calms, strengthens, and helps with depression. It strengthens intuition, and creativity, and helps make good decisions and accept new challenges.
Include birches in your offer, because they are not only beautiful trees, but also have their positive, magical meaning.

Complete the “order” column in the attached Excel file and send it to info@hoogenraadplant.nl. Do not change the content of the file, just enter the number of plants ordered. In the email, provide the company name, contact details, and the expected date of receipt of the order – this will help us plan work in the nursery.
When will my order be confirmed?
Every order we receive is confirmed within 48 hours (working days). If during this time you do not receive an email from us, check your “spam” and “offers” or call us.
When can I pick up my order?
We adjust the dates of orders to meet your needs, so report the date of the planned collection 2 weeks in advance (February-April – 3 weeks in advance). This will facilitate the timely, efficient, and correct preparation of plants and their careful packaging.
Pickup of orders is possible from 09-09-2024 till 03-05-2025.
I’m a new customer, when do I have to pay?
We accept cash payments, credit cards, and bank transfers to our bank account based on a pro forma invoice before picking up your order. Pre-payment includes 100% of the order value.
